Green Crocodiles show off with collective signing |
Super Toto Super League side Bursaspor ended its silence in the transfer market, signing seven footballers at the same time on Tuesday. At a ceremony held in the club’s Özlüce facilities, the Green Crocodiles introduced new players Scott Carson, Alfred N’Diaye, Bedrican Özdoğan, Cemal Kaldırım, Tunay Acar, Deniz Aslan and Barış Örücü. While British goalkeeper Carson signed a four-year deal, the others joined Bursa on a three-year contract.
Bursaspor Secretary-General Recep Bölükbaşı and board members Necmettin Kocaman and Erkan Kamat attended the signing ceremony.
The Bursa side won its maiden championship two years ago, ending the Big Four’s -- Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor -- domination of the league, and finished last season in third place, trailing Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor. “As our chairman İbrahim Yazıcı says, Bursaspor plays for the top and the championship from now on. Bursaspor is now a European team and we believe that we will succeed in European cups as well,” Bölükbaşı said at the ceremony. He also added that they believe all seven players will be successful with the Bursaspor jersey.
Carson, who transferred from West Bromwich Albion, said he arrived in the city three days ago and is happy to be in Bursa. He added that he will do his best to help Bursaspor succeed. Meanwhile, Kamat, who is in charge of the club’s foreign player transfers, said they had agreed on a deal with Cameroonian midfielder Landry N’Guemo but gave up on him when they found out he was secretly negotiating with French side Bordeaux as well.
Kamat further said that they are waiting for a response from French side Nancy’s Moroccan right back Michael Chretien Basser. He added that they do not plan to transfer any other footballers.
Bursaspor to cooperate with Manchester United
Meanwhile, Bursaspor manager Kocaman, who is responsible for the club’s junior and youth teams, said Bursasor plans to cooperate with British powerhouse Manchester United for infrastructure, Anatolia news agency reported on Wednesday. “Our players and coaches will go there and theirs will arrive here. Different projects may come out once we sit down at the table to talk. We will soon take steps about this.”
