Yıldırım Demirören, former Beşiktaş Chairman, was elected the new chairman of the Turkish Football Federation. Bursaspor did not vote and not attended the meeting at all. Bursaspor president İbrahim Yazıcı said "We do not support Demirören and we do not believe that he will be neutral" so they did not join the meeting at all.
In an extraordinary meeting of the Federation held on February 27 in Ankara, Demirören received 221 out of 229 votes.
In a speech he delivered after the vote, Yıldırım Demirören thanked all delegates who took part in the meeting.
After the speech, the 41st President of the Turkish Football Federation accepted the greetings at the meeting hall.
